📢🚨We are so excited to announce the signing of Laia Maglisceau! Laia was born in Edmonton and has spent most of her life here. A fun fact about Laia is that she lived in Spain for 3 years and the first language she learned was Spanish! She also has deep ties to U of A basketball as her dad, Nick, played for the Bears from 1996-2001 and was a 2-time All-Canadian and 2-time Canada West champion. Her basketball lineage doesn’t stop there - Laia’s mom, Michelle, is the all-time leading scorer at Simon Fraser University and represented Canada at the 2000 Olympics. Michelle was also an assistant coach with the Pandas during the 2012-2013 season. Laia has already started an impressive basketball career herself as a member of the 2025 ASAA provincial champion, Scona Lords. She spent the past two springs as a member of our U17 Jr Pandas team and was also selected as an alternate for Team Alberta this past summer which won a gold medal at Canada Games.
