ICYMI: Christian Stanley, an agriscience teacher at Goshen High School in Pike County, received $25,000 from the Milken Family Foundation. Stanley is one of 30 Milken Educator Award recipients nationally and the only Alabama winner this year. The award recognizes “instructional excellence, professional leadership, engagement with the community and potential for even greater contributions to the education profession.” Stanley is also an adjunct instructor at Enterprise State Community College. His high school students have the opportunity to earn an agriscience certificate or associate’s degree through dual enrollment. Nationally, the Milken Foundation will award more than $76 million in prizes. The program began in 1987. The foundation is a family-founded education reform organization.
