Have you ever photographed a show at a tiny club? That's where I started, but I hadn't done it in a while. And I had forgotten how fun it can be not having a pit, roaming around among the people, soaking up the energy. But it can also be extremely stressful. These are my top 3 tips for photographing a club show with some peace of mind: 1. Preparation is key. Arrive early to scout the place and get a good spot (especially if you've never been before). I like to start close to the stage and then move away as the show progresses, unless it's agreed otherwise. 2. Make sure to pack a wide lens. You'll need it. 3. When moving around, remember that people have paid to enjoy the show. Be mindful and try to spot the less disruptive moments. For example, between songs. Bonus: Make sure to have your equipment insured. It's super easy for people to spill drinks or for your lens to break during a moshpit!! Do you have any other tips?
