Michael Rapaport Says “Mayor Rapaport” Is Coming in 2029 While Throwing Shots at NYC’s Newest Leader

#MichaelRapaport has publicly stated he plans to run for Mayor of New York City in the 2029 election, positioning himself as a challenger to current Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Rapaport made his intentions known in a recent episode of his “I Am Rapaport” podcast, where he referred to himself as “Mayor Rapaport.”
Rapaport, 55, a New York City native and entertainment figure known for roles on television and film as well as his podcasting work, has not yet filed official campaign paperwork with New York City election authorities. His announcement comes soon after Mamdani, a Democrat and former state assembly member, was inaugurated as the city’s mayor on January 1, 2026, following his victory in the 2025 election.
