Cal football has completely overhauled its coaching staff for the 2026 season. After current Oregon defensive coordinator and former Cal linebacker Tosh Lupoi was announced as the new Cal head coach in December, he has been gathering staff from all around the country in an attempt to rebuild in Berkeley. Lupoi opted for youth from the NFL level in filling his most important roles in offensive and defensive coordinators. On the offensive end, 29-year-old Jordan Somerville came over from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to be the Bears’ next offensive coordinator. For defense, 30-year-old Michael Hutchings came from the Minnesota Vikings to be Cal’s defensive coordinator, and 28-year-old former Western Kentucky co-defensive coordinator Da’Von Brown was later named co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach.
