San Diego’s iconic Ocean Beach Pier is officially on the path to return — but not until 2032 🌊 The pier has been closed since 2023 after repeated storm damage and years of structural wear made it unsafe for public use. Once the longest concrete pier on the West Coast, it had become a daily gathering place for locals and visitors alike — from anglers and surfers to sunset walkers and photographers. Rather than patching the aging structure again, the City decided on a full replacement designed to last generations. The future pier is planned to be shorter, wider, and more resilient, built to withstand stronger storms and rising seas.
