One year since the Palisades fire changed our lives forever. I remember sitting in disbelief, grieving the big things & the small ones- beds, blankets, keepsakes, pieces of history you’ll never think you’ll lose. I remember not knowing how to explain to the kids that we weren’t going home. I also remember being wrapped in the most unexpected blanket of love. Texts, DMs, meals, clothes, stuffed animals, places to land. People reminding us we were not alone. I watched neighbors become family. Friends turn into lifelines. Every hardship has a way of changing you. This one gave me a deeper sense of empathy, gratitude & perspective than I ever imagined. One year later, I wake up thankful- for safety, health, shelter, clean air & family. And I hope I never lose that awareness. To everyone who showed up- for us and for so many others, thank you.
