✨PHONICS - READING/ SPELLING ✨ This sounds simple but if your child is in reception and they know all their sounds, before progressing onto digraphs (two letters that make one sound) make sure you have practiced reading and writing lots of CVC words. Before we move on, we should make sure they are super confident when recognising the single sounds - this is often where children begin to get confused. We bombard them with all the new (more complex sounds) before they have mastered single sounds. So, even if your children are now coming home from school reciting digraphs like sh/ ch/ th - keep practicing single sounds! It will build their confidence and support their fluency.
