#techniquetuesday post comes in two parts lol see the next post for part two
uh first i wanted to practice these chords from the end of ponce's sonata romantica some more to make them feel secure bc that's part of the climax of the whole 20 minute piece. while i was warming up i had the idea of imagining what this would sound like if it were villa-lobos etudes, in particular 1 and 4. when doing it like etude 4 i cut off the pedal tones in the bass bc no one needs to hear that. i guess bc my right hand was more active than when playing this passage for real it had the effect of making it seem way more difficult than usual on my left hand. it's also interesting how when doing it like etude 1 the right hand pattern feels harder than with the normal chords. either that or i just wasn't warmed up enough when i did this lol.
i do that idea of making something like etude 4 on things that are hard on the left hand a lot bc it gives the left hand a lot of time to feel the shape it's maki...
