try looking at things from a different angle by starting at a new place in your exercise!
take for example the famous first etude by villa-lobos. we're using the typical segovia pattern, but changing where we start.
1) the normal way: pipi pmia maim pipi
2) starting in the middle: maim pipi pipi pmia
3) starting with the second beat: pmia maim pipi pipi
honestly option 3 was such a handful i didnt even try starting on the fourth beat lol
starting in different parts of a pattern gives us new perspective into the exercise. of course the hardest part of this is towards the middle of the normal pattern where you have to rely a lot on your weak middle finger. by starting there we have no choice but to confront our weaknesses.
additionally, starting in a new place engages our mind in a fresh way. we now have to think more about what our left hand is doing, instead of thinking reflexively.
