“This kind of work is so valuable to begin at a young age–to be encouraged and given the tools to express oneself.” Composer Erin Busch, a PhD candidate at the University of Pennsylvania and founder of Young Women Composers Camp, worked with ACF’s #ChoralQuest program to create graphic scores with the young singers of Sister Cities Girlchoir. The works, which were performed this past March, helped the young singers and first-time composers tell their story of how they experience the COVID-19 pandemic. “I felt proud because this was my first composition AND a professional played it,” said 10-year-old composer Josslyn of the project.
