What do a hair salon and surplus produce have in common? Extra income.

#SmallBusinessSaturday, we’re celebrating the entrepreneurs turning opportunity into independence.
🔵 Maka achieved her dream of opening a hair salon in the Bidi Bidi refugee settlement with support from Action Against Hunger.
🔵 In Kenya, a group of women facing the impacts of climate change learned climate-smart farming — now their farm is the community’s only source of fresh produce, giving them income and financial agency.
🔵 Through our Farmer Graduation Program, Judith mastered year-round nutritious farming with the OLUM approach. She grew surplus maize and beans, sold her harvest, and eventually opened a shop supplying other traders.
Across the world, our teams help refugees and host communities build and grow small businesses — from farms to salons and beyond.
