Incredible work by UEL’s own Jude Geoghegan! Our BA Sports Journalism student UEL student Jude Geoghegan who was born with spina bifida, walked alongside bbcradio2 2’s djsaracox on 13th November, completing an 8km walk with Sara Cox for charity Shine (supporting children and families affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus as part of the bbccin Challenge Squad. Jude, an active footballer and coach who was named Coach of the Year - Disability Pathway in 2025, walked with BBC Radio 2’s Sara Cox to raise awareness and vital funds! His advice to other young people with disabilities hoping to break into sport or sports journalism is powerful, “Representation isn’t just about who’s playing; it’s also about who shapes the narrative. You deserve to bring your lived experiences to the table.” #UELYearOfHealth #BBCChildrenInNeed Photo credits: BBC Children In Need
