New information and video are surfacing of the man accused of ambushing and shooting a Greenville police officer. David William Lane, 42, is accused of firing multiple shots in the officer's vehicle on Jan. 11, 2026. The officer was shot while he was in his car at the Greenville County Law Enforcement Center on McGee Street. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division released video of the ambush on Jan. 12. After Lane was identified as the suspect, there was a chase and a shooting involving law enforcement, authorities said.
