A night to honor AHL Hall of Famer Roy Sommer🤠   Tonight, the SJBarracuda raised legendary coach Roy Sommer’s banner into the rafters and had a special ceremonial puck drop at Tech CU Arena. In addition, the Barracuda rebranded to the San Jose Rhinos, in memory of the Roller Hockey International team that Roy coached out of San Jose Arena (now SAP Center) for 2 seasons, including winning the Murphy Cup Championship in 1995.   With 828 AHL wins, Sommer had a remarkable run leading San Jose’s AHL affiliates in Lexington (1998–2001), Cleveland (2001–06), Worcester (2006–15), and San Jose (2015–22). Over that span, more than 150 of Sommer’s players advanced to the National Hockey League.   Thank you for everything you have done for the organization, Cowboy!
