The union of three csubio graduate students, all with a shared mission, catalyzed the creation of a new course that didn’t shy from big topics: the history of eugenics and forced sterilization, the myth of overpopulation, anti-fat bias, and the connections between science and colonialism, to name a few. The course, Recognizing and Addressing Oppression in the Sciences, was first hosted last fall with the hopes to creating a learning environment unlike any other.
