Out to create the world’s first climate-neutral continent by 2050, government leaders across the EU are testing out new eco-friendly mobility solutions. For Germany, that means switching from diesel to hydrogen-powered passenger trains that expel only steam and condensed water. 🚆 “Emission-free mobility is one of the most important goals for ensuring a sustainable future,” says Henri Poupart-Lafarge, CEO and chairman of the board of Alstom, the French mobility company leading the project. 🚆 The world’s first hydrogen-powered fleet is a decade in the making: German transport authority Landesnahverkehrsgesellschaft Niedersachsen (LNVG) first began exploring alternatives to diesel rail cars in 2012.
