THREE-POINT CHAMPION!!!
Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard won the NBA All-Star three-point contest on Saturday night in Salt Lake City, edging the Indiana Pacers’ Buddy Hield by one point in the final round of the competition.
Lillard finished with 26 points to win the three-point contest, while Hield had 25 points. Indiana’s Tyrese Haliburton was a distant third with 17. Lillard made his final shot to overtake Hield, who had missed his final shot.
Lillard donned a No. 1 Weber State jersey with the name D.O.L.L.A. on the back as he made his way around the three-point arc during the two rounds of the competition. Weber State, where Lillard played college basketball from 2008-12, is located in Ogden, less than 40 miles north of Salt Lake City.
“It makes it that much more special,” Lillard said on the TNT broadcast of winning the contest so close to Weber State.
