This is the Sawyer House, located in the middle of Torresdale’s property. This farmhouse predates the course, but was later given to Torresdale’s famed Golf Professional Jack Sawyer by the membership for his long-time service citing Sawyer created a relaxing culture, not one that was “overly competitive” like other clubs at the time. Sawyer was Torresdale’s Golf Professional for 53 years from 1912-1965. The house was completely restored and partly remodeled by the Union League last year to serve as the golf course’s half-way house as well as housing for our Union League University golf interns each year.
