Satreia Melton from RedCrossPhilly is passionate about saving lives and educating donors — especially about sickle cell disease. “I educate every donor who comes in that is of African American descent. 99.9% of the people don’t even know about the [sickle cell] program,” she said. “Many, once educated, want to come back and donate more often.” In addition to knowing she’s helping save lives, the variety in her workday keeps Satreia motivated. “It’s awesome being in a different place every day,” she said. “You meet different people from all walks of life.
