“What better way to celebrate one’s birthday than by sharing the gift of life with those that need it.”
Dr. Richara Jennings is a clinical psychologist who spends her free time volunteering and donating blood with RedCrossIL. She recently celebrated her birthday by not only volunteering at a blood drive, but also by donating blood herself.
“I donate because I have people in my life who live with sickle cell disease,” Dr. Jennings explained. “I know the difference blood transfusions make for them when they’re in crisis.”
It’s estimated that 100,000 people in the U.S. have sickle cell disease, and many of these patients may need regular blood transfusions throughout their lifetime to manage complications from sickle cell. Like, Dr. Jennings, you can help — tap the link in our bio to schedule an appointment to give.
