If you've ever donated or received blood before, you can thank Dr. Charles R. Drew. His groundbreaking research helped revolutionize the blood banking system and how blood is collected and distributed today.
Here are just a few reasons why we celebrate Dr. Drew and why you should, too:
💪🏽 He was the FIRST to serve as medical director for Red Cross’ National Blood Collection Program in 1941.
🪖 His work helped save hundreds of thousands of lives during World War II.
💡 He pioneered the way we collect, preserve and transport blood donations through the creation of bloodmobiles.
📚 He challenged segregation policies and advocated for medical and educational equality.
We’re proud to celebrate Dr. Drew and his lifesaving work that is still used today to help people with cancer, trauma injuries and chronic diseases.
