Spotify found itself in hot water around fall of 2025 when users reported that the music streaming platform was running ICE recruitment ads, leading to a massive boycott from listeners and artists alike. Despite Spotify announcing on January 8 that it’s stopped running the ads, Mexican rock band Café Tacvba is now asking its former labels Universal Music Mexico and Warner Music Mexico to remove their music from Spotify.
“I personally invite our followers to listen to our music on other platforms, or better yet boycott it, and don’t take part in the abuses of power, ongoing wars, and violence,” vocalist Rubén Albarrán said in an Instagram post. “It’s time to create a new, more just world where music continues to have value and significance and gives support, boy, and hope to people and communities.”
