After the 2022 U18 Women’s World Championships, Jenessa had lingering hip pain. She knew she had to take care of this injury before her senior season at Gentry Academy and a looming collegiate career at Minnesota State University - Mankato.
Jenessa was referred to Sports Physical Therapist Justin Nicol by her sister. Upon evaluation, Justin gave her several exercises, but she could only do them for less than 10 seconds.
“Justin provided the right feedback and direction. I trusted his expertise and understood what was good soreness versus bad soreness. Eventually, I was able to build up to the recommended 40 seconds and make the exercises harder.”
Once Jenessa could complete the movements while understanding “effort vs. pain,” Justin cleared her to resume skating. After another few weeks of PT, she was skating PAIN FREE. Now, she is leading Gentry to a State Tournament appearance this weekend!
