This is Elif. She is from a rural village located outside the town of Nurdagi in Türkiye. She was home when the earthquake struck and quickly grabbed what she could as she ran out the door. Elif had called to her husband a few times but never received a response. Sadly, she later learned her husband was one of several family members who perished in the earthquake. “I don’t know what to do and my heart is so sad and I’m wearing the only outfit I have and my legs and feet are injured,” she said. Turkish Red Crescent team members are visiting remote areas that were hit hardest by the earthquake to provide Elif and many others with medical care and emotional and psycho-social support.
