Last week, NHL star Auston Matthews hosted his own NFT auction. The auction earned the Maple Leafs center nearly $200K, with some of the proceeds going to SickKids, a pediatric teaching hospital in Toronto. This auction made him only the second NHL player to auction off an NFT, following Matthew Tkachuk of the Calgary Flames.
The ever-growing business of nonfungible tokens (NFTs) continues to grow among athletes, with many NFL and NBA stars joining the craze too. NFTs are proving to be a good way for athletes to grow their brand and their revenue.
