Novak Djokovic, the world's
#1-ranked male tennis athlete, is forming a new players' association to directly represent male tennis players in opposition to the traditional structure of the ATP.
Djokovic, formerly the president of the ATP, and
#92-ranked Vasek Pospisil resigned from their leadership roles on the ATP council. The goal of the new "Professional Tennis Players' Association" is provide players with a new self-governance structure and directly meet the needs of players - revenue sharing, pensions, travel, insurance, etc. Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Andy Murray have voiced concerns with the idea.
