On Tuesday (January 13) Republican Rep. Andrew Clyde referred to Democratic Rep. Sarah McBride — a trans woman — as “the gentleman from Delaware” while recognising her to speak on the House floor. McBride was elected into office November 2024 as the first out transgender person elected to the U.S. House. She did not address Clyde’s misgendering on 13 Jan, instead moving forward with congratulating recently-promoted Rev. Dr. A'Shellarien Addison in the Delaware Army National Guard.
