The dispute centers on whether 2 Live Crew can reclaim their 1980s and early ’90s albums, or if the rights remain with Lil’ Joe Records, which purchased the catalog in a bankruptcy sale nearly 30 years ago.

Formally released under Luke Records, 2 Live Crew’s albums are the DNA of the Miami bass sound iconic, controversial, and boundary-pushing. Decades later, the group is fighting to regain the rights to their 1980s and early ’90s catalog. The pioneers are using termination rights to challenge old label agreements while continuing to generate revenue from streaming, licensing, and biopics. Oral arguments are scheduled to begin January 28th. (Source: allhiphopcom ) . . . #uncleluke #2livecrew #oldschoolhiphop
