The wait is over. 112 days later and here we are. Bring on the drama, the overpriced beer, the pupusas outside the stadium, the friends at the supporters’ end, the celebrity cameos, the inconvenient parking, the tailgates, the ridiculous refereeing, the last-gasp winners, the heroes, the villains, and everything in between. You could tell everyone missed it — warts and all. For months, we had to look elsewhere for our fix. But as opening whistles blew across North America, the long drought finally gave way. We’re all thinking it. This 2023 season could very well be the best to date. It’s our first of this next World Cup cycle, and one that promises to bring an unprecedented level of attention.
