Yolanda Caudillo was relieved to be the recipient of two new smoke alarms, eager to keep her and her family safe from a home fire like the one that affected her neighbor two weeks prior. She remembers waking up to the smell of smoke and the glare of a large fire from the mobile home across from hers, and calling 911. “I’m scared of fire and lights so I don’t have anything plugged in — just the stove and refrigerator. Since the fire, it’s even worse,” she explained. I wake up at 2 a.m. and 5 a.m., looking all around because I’m scared of a fire.” Because of the fire, her neighbor’s home had to be completely torn down, and that demolition took place on the day that RedCrossArizona volunteers arrived to install free smoke alarms for residents at the mobile home park. “Now, I feel better because I have two new smoke alarms. Today, the Red Cross put in two new alarms so we can be safe.” ❤️ #RedCross #EndHomeFires #SmokeAlarm #HomeFire
