The final award we are presenting is the "Unsung Hero" Award, named after Madeline Loftus. Loftus was a transfer to the Cardinals in 2004, and finished her junior and senior year at Saint Mary's. In 2009, Loftus tragically passed away in a plane crash, along with 49 other individuals. She was known for being a supportive and remarkable teammate and friend and brought endless support and leadership to Cardinal hockey. We honor Madeline's legacy and contributions to Saint Mary's Women's Hockey through the Unsung Hero Award, presented to the player who, while not necessarily represented on the scoresheet, makes significant contributions to the team - without them, the team would not be whole. #SMUWH #FindAWay
