A part of the shineonstpete Unity project in 2022 with members of the community and girls from Brookwood. It brings the message “Always Forward Together” to all who pass by. As the great-great granddaughter of famous Chester County painter, Ida Ellen Ruth Jones, their work draws from a distinct family history of diverse creativity and cultural pride. Jones’ personal artistic journey began when their father handed them the book “How to Draw Animals” by Jack Hamm. Their series of paintings of Orishas brings African culture to life in bold and beautiful depictions of the powerful goddesses. Jones is eager to expand the series into other cultures and histories.
