While most students were still enjoying winter break, a group of our law students began 2026 by giving back to communities across South Carolina. Fifteen Joseph F. Rice School of Law students completed a 40-hour intensive mediation training in partnership with the South Carolina Bar Association. Upon completion, they immediately began serving low-income litigants through volunteer mediations in magistrate, circuit and family courts — working alongside the Midlands Mediation Center to meet a critical community need.
