If this coach doesn’t score 25 points per game this year, he’s fired 👀
In 2022, Iowa averaged 17.7 points/game. That earned them the ranking of 123rd best offense in the country. The Hawkeyes’ defense scored 6 of their 25 total TDs in 2022. That’s 24 freaking percent of Iowa’s touchdowns scored by the defense.
Most OC’s wouldn’t last with those numbers, but Ferentz has led offenses that put up 31.8 points per game in 2020 and 31.2 points per game in 2018. He has shown he can do this.
In 2023, the Hawkeyse will have Cade McNamara at QB and Erick All Jr. at TE. Personnel is there. The offensive numbers need to go up.
So, what does Iowa do? Well, the AD cut Brian Ferentz’s salary by $50,000 and included a 25 points-per-game clause.
That means Ferentz’s contract will be terminated on June 30th, 2024 if he doesn’t meet that mark or the team doesn’t reach 7 wins.
