Did You Know? 🥛🐄 Before farm-fresh food stores—and long before online grocery delivery—there were neighborhood milkmen. It all started in 1921, when Clover Farms Dairy delivered glass-bottled milk by horse and buggy to local families in Norwalk, Connecticut. By the 1950s and 60s, Stew Sr. had taken over the family dairy routes, delivering fresh milk door to door in a Divco milk truck. To make every stop a little more fun, he added a life-sized cow head to the front and a horn that went “MOOoo!” for the neighborhood kids who waved as he passed by. For years, Stew’s milk trucks were a familiar sight around Norwalk, carrying Clover Farms milk straight from the dairy to local homes. Today, you can still see a full-size Divco Milk Truck at the Stew Leonard’s Norwalk store, along with miniature replicas at some of our other locations—small reminders of where it all began.
