In 2022, HB 746 was passed to stop children from being subjected to solitary confinement. ⁠ ⁠ This unacceptable practice doesn’t stop them from harming themselves or others. It leads to death, and mental illnesses & fosters anger and hostility. No one is being protected.⁠ ⁠ Facilities must invest in more strategies for de-escalating tensions through improved staff training, stronger behavior management plans, and a culture change from the management level on down so that solitary is no longer considered the “only tool” for dealing with problematic behavior.⁠ ⁠ #EndSolitary #CareNotCages
