The EU’s border and coast guard agency, Frontex, said that the number of irregular crossings at the bloc’s external borders fell by 26% in 2025, to nearly 178,000. That is less than half the number recorded in 2023 and the lowest level since 2021.⁣ ⁣ Despite the decline, Frontex warned that conditions at Europe’s borders remain unpredictable.
