Seated squats is a great variation when dealing with knee pain ⬇️
1. It reduces knee pain
The pause on the box limits excessive forward knee travel which lowers knee irritation compared to regular squats
2. It’s builds posterior chain strength
The posterior chain is basically the back of your legs (hamstrings/glutes/lower back). The more emphasis on the PC means stronger hips which will naturally take the pressure of your knees long term
3. Improves squats mechanics
Seated squats force you to control depth and positioning instead of bouncing out of the bottom
Lastly, it’s just easier to have better load management with this variation because of the range limitations while still creating the tension in your legs with lower joint stress
