The Fabric of Georgetown Basketball is the story of a program, a university, and a nation. A trailblazer by the name of John Thompson Jr. cast his larger than life shadow over the Hilltop and put Georgetown University on the map as an academic institution, a basketball powerhouse, and a cultural landmark for Black excellence. The passion he poured into his teachings left a lasting impression on every man and woman who either met the legend or those who had only heard the name Coach Thompson.
During his time as Georgetown’s Men’s Basketball Head Coach, he constructed a cultural identity that transcended campus boundaries. Soon enough, his lessons of education, social justice, and racial equity could be heard from across the country.
