Groundhog Day. That’s three times now. Three Minnesota home openers played in the snow. Dusted off the old parka, threw on a hat, and grabbed the game scarf for good measure. The hot cocoa didn’t warm you, but how can you not melt at the thought of snow soccer. If you grew up North, you knew what you were about to see. Endless slips, trips, and a good dose of chaos. Of course, the classic orange ball made an appearance too — thank god. It was 1-1 in the end, and more than we expected. A draw, sure, but how can you top building a snowman in the stands, or raising a tifo in a blizzard. Bucket list items for any fan. Still, with the way it’s gone in Minnesota, there’s no doubt we’ll all get another chance to do it at their next home opener in ‘24. Just don’t forget your gloves.
