Happy birthday to Benjamin Franklin, one of Philadelphia’s most influential residents. 🎉 While living in Philadelphia, Franklin helped found the first public lending library in America, established the Philadelphia Fire Department, and improved street lighting across the city. He also chose not to patent many of his inventions, including the lightning rod, believing ideas should be shared for the public good.
