October is National Breast Cancer Action Month. In 1988, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and I was told I had five years left to live. As a survivor of multiple cancer diagnoses, my best advice is to get screened regularly. For me, it meant surviving and now getting to watch my grandbaby grow up.
