FEMINIST was on the ground in DC, reporting from outside the Supreme Court as the ACLU_nationwide and its partners argued inside for trans kids’ right to play sports. 🏳️‍⚧️ At the center of West Virginia v. B.P.J. is Becky Pepper-Jackson, a 15-year-old girl who loves her friends, band, and track & field. Despite being the only openly transgender athlete in the state, she has been singled out by politicians and barred from playing on the girls’ team. We partnered with the ACLU because we want sports to be fair and kids to be safe. What’s happening now does the opposite. Trans kids play sports for the same reason every kid does: to belong, to learn teamwork, and to have fun with their friends and bans don’t protect anyone they just fuel witchhunts that target all women and girls.
