A production mishap at a factory in Yiwu,
#China, has unexpectedly created a viral sensation — a crying-faced horse toy that’s now an unlikely
#mascot for the Year of the Horse.
A simple sewing error left the toy with a pouty mouth and downward-facing nostrils, giving it a teary, pitiful expression first dismissed as a defect.
But the look struck a chord online. Netizens found the doll’s sad face oddly comforting and stress-relieving, quickly turning it from a factory mistake into a runaway hit.
Demand has since surged.
The production line has expanded from just two to over 10, with daily output exceeding 15,000 toys. Orders are fully booked through March — and still growing.
