Donate to support the Meals On Wheels West Pet Program that continuously help feed the pets of our clients as well as monitor their wellbeing. 🐱🐶 Here is a little back story on one of Meals On Wheels West beloved late clients, Baru, and his cat Katsu: Katsu is a Japanese Bobtail who’s name means Pork Chop. “Kats” was Baru’s devoted companion for 10 years and the Meals On Wheels Pet Program helped feed him for most of that. Since Baru was on a fixed income and homebound, the program purchased and delivered cat food, litter and treats. Baru had a unique background in that as a young boy, he and his immigrant parents were held in a Japanese internment camp during World War II. Even so, he enlisted in the US Army as a young man and served in combat, he was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries he received while serving.
