The Abject Mölly | Critique 3 | “Mölly’s Room” - Mixed Media Installation - This work serves as a site-specific manifestation of a space previously held only in the artist’s mind: the bedroom of Mölly. Mölly is the “mystery twin” the artist felt they integrated in the womb—the identity they would have carried if assigned female at birth. After twenty-three years of suppression, this installation acts as an externalization of that internal architecture. - Rooted in a “messthetic” of camp, kitsch, and low-brow excess, the work rejects institutional poise to embrace the chaos of nonbinary identity. By translating this private, mental room into a physical vessel, the artist explores the relationship between drag, familial fabulation, and the body.
