Long before his legacy was memorialized with a statue on the East Mall, Martin Luther King Jr. visited The University of Texas at Austin and spoke at the Texas Union.  That visit, like the statue that now stands on campus, is part of the history we pause to remember on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
