6 Things videography has taught me: 1. Always look for the light in any situation. Whether this is your own life or a scene you’re trying to shoot, looking for light normally means you’ll find it. 2. You can’t always fix everything in post, preparation is key! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve shot something and it’s been lackluster or even completely unusable because I didn’t do my research about the shoot beforehand. 3. Gear isn’t everything, but it sure helps! I’ve seen a lot of people make amazing videos with $10 cameras to prove “gear isn’t everything” but they don’t include their expensive light setup or audio equipment in that total 4. Audio quality is as important as video quality. Audio makes or breaks a video, it can take a good video to great and drag great video down to just okay 5. Comparison really is the thief of joy.
