Today, as part of Tsunami Preparedness Week, the Emergency Services team at Ventura County Sheriff participated in a Tsunami Communications Exercise. The purpose of the exercise was to practice real-time event communications and information exchange during a simulated tsunami event. Participants also included officials from Ventura County cities, harbors, ports, special districts, the National Weather Service, California Department of Conservation and the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services. This exercise is just one example of the year-round preparation, training and coordination of emergency response efforts between local, state and federal agencies. ...
